Gieng Ngu

The Giếng Tiên, or Emperor Nguyen’s Well, is a historic site found near Bai Kem Beach in An Thoi Town, Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam. The site is based on a legend of Lord Nguyen who was under attack by the Tay Son rebels and sought a place for refuge. He was thirsty and plunged his sword into the stone and out came fresh water. The following is a tour of this historic site through a series of video clips:

How To Get To Giếng Tiên

There are two ways to get to the historic Giếng Tiên wells: 1) By taking a boat from Bai Kem Beach or 2)By taking a boat from An Thoi Town. You can either charter your own boat or join a group.

If you arrive early in the morning at Kem Beach you can commission a small long tail boat to take you to the nearby Magic Wells located in Emerald Bay Phu Quoc. This historical site, which is next to the ultra luxurious Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort, is famous for its small temple and fresh water well which was allegedly created in the 17th century as a result of a king, Gieng Ngu, striking his sword down into the ground to find water in order to quench the thirst of his troops.
